Positive Start for Moshe

Breednet – Media Release – Thursday, 20 September 2012

Bel Esprit first season sire, Moshe, has certainly captured the imagination of breeders and is currently working his way through an exciting book of mares.

However, the reception from broodmare owners is not the only ‘positive’ about Black Caviar‘s younger brother.

Just a little over two weeks into the new season, several of Moshe’s mares have already been tested in foal, according to Eliza Park’s General Manager of Operations, David Somers … including the Elusive Quality mare, Miss Evasive.

A winning daughter of Bart Cummings’ dual Group One winner, Magical Miss, Miss Evasive is owned by Rick Jamieson’s Gilgai Farm.

Rick, of course, bred both Black Caviar and Moshe (pictured) and there would be more than a touch of ‘magic’ if he ends up having the honour of producing Moshe’s first foal!

Hoofnote: Black Caviar resulted from Bel Esprit’s first cover of the 2005 spring … 6am on 1 September. Rick will undoubtedly be hoping Moshe’s first cover produces the same kind of lightning.

Victorian Sires to Gather at Moonee Valley

Breednet – Media Release – Wednesday, 8 August 2012

VICTORIA’S breeding strength has been boosted this year by an impressive line up of new sires, including Black Caviar’s fleet-footed younger brother Moshe (Eliza Park), champion miler Canford Clifs (IRE) (Blue Gum Farm), the very fashionably bred Group1 winning Master of Design (Swettenham) and the high quality Hong Kong sprinter One World (Larneuk).

Among other major stakes winners in the Victorian new sire listing are Anacheeva (Chatswood), Danesis (IRE) (Carin Park), I lovethiscity (Larneuk), Love Conquers All (Eliza Park), Rebel Raider (Carin Park), Skilled (Darley) and Toorak Toff (Rosemont).

Six of the new sires, Anacheeva , Ilovethiscity, Master of Design, Moshe, One World and Toorak Toff are all booked to be paraded from 12.30pm on Thursday August 16 at the Inglis Oaklands Sales Centre. It is the opening session for their two day Melbourne August Thoroughbred sale.

The big unveiling of the high quality collection of new Victorian sires is to be the second annual ‘The Stallions Come To Town’ parade at Moonee Valley racecourse on Friday August 24 from 4pm to 6pm.

The showing of the new sires is to be supported by an Industry Expo, Industry Forum and Victorian Owners and Breeders Awards. – Brian Russell Media

BLACK CAVIAR: BUILT LIKE TYSON, MOVES LIKE BEYONCE   Leave a comment

IN PROFILE: BLACK CAVIAR

BUILT LIKE TYSON, MOVES LIKE BEYONCE

At The Races BY MATT CHAPMAN

The good news is we can claim it’s a British victory should Black Caviar hack up in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, 3.45pm, at Royal Ascot on June 23.

After all, the sire of her dam, Helsinge – named after a Swedish coastal town known for its production of quality caviar – is Desert Sun, and let us not forget he is a British bred horse who won a maiden and graduation event at Doncaster. And, the sire of Black Caviar’s sire, Bel Esprit, is Royal Academy, who was trained in Ireland but we’ll take him as one of ‘ours’ as well.

The bad news is the Australians are not going to fall for that – should she succeed, and it will take a biblical act for her not to, there’s going to be plenty of pommy bashing.
