HAYES KEEN ON G1 FOR BEL 3YO   Leave a comment

Just 10 days after producing stakes winner #22 via brilliant 2YO, Sweet Sherry, BEL ESPRIT has added to the black type tally with Keen Array taking out the $350,000 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield Wednesday.

It was a huge performance by the Bel Esprit 3YO who has been touted as a rising star for some time by his in-form trainers, David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.
Hayes told racing.com that he’s always had a big opinion of Keen Array who now has 4 wins and a second from 5 outings this time in: “We were very confident he’d get to this level. He was my best two-year-old last year and he went shin-sore. He’s my best three-year-old sprinter, clearly – there’s not many better in Australia.”
Hayes added that the G1 Coolmore Stakes remains an option but might head to the G3 Red Anchor instead.
