DARREN Weir has continued his season of milestones, achieving a century of city winners after Strong Hand won at Geelong on Sunday.

Weir then made it a winning double when Burning Front took his tally of city winners in Melbourne to 79 and 22 in Adelaide.

Weir trained seven city winners for the weekend, consisting of three at Morphettville on Saturday and doubles at Caulfield and Geelong.

Weir took his tally of winners for the season to 295 with that victory and six meetings left to get to 300 winners.

Weir said he would like to get to 300 but would see what happens.

Weir said he wasn’t going to take any horses to Sale on Thursday, which is the final race day for the season but he would now.

“It’s been an amazing season. It’s the best season we’ve had,” Weir said.

Weir trained three Group 1winners in Melbourne for the season with Trust In A Gust winning two and Lucky Hussler one and he said he’s like to improve on that for the next season.

Last year Weir trained 265 winners and he said he was pleased he had improved his record.

If Weir could get to 300 he would be the first Victorian based stable to have achieved that feat.

John Hawkes holds the Australian record with 315 ½ winners in 1999-2000.
