The long-running investigation by Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards into the running of the Jason Warren-trained Baron Archer at Echuca earlier this year has ended with no charges being laid.

An inquiry started immediately after the race due to stewards’ concerns over the disappointing performance of Baron Archer.

Shortly after the inquiry started, wagering service provider Betfair notified the stewards of abnormally large betting on the race and, specifically, an abnormally high volume of matched bets on Baron Archer.

Stewards have interviewed a number of licensed participants and have analysed betting accounts held with various wagering service providers. Stewards have also analysed phone records provided by relevant licensed people.

Stewards have determined that no charges will be laid in relation to the betting on Baron Archer. However, should further information be obtained, stewards will re-open the investigation and take any necessary steps at that time.
