Leading Australian jockey Craig Williams has been dumped as the rider for Brazen Beau in the July Cup at Newmarket England next month.
Williams was told by text message that his services will no longer be required at Royal Ascot on the outstanding Australian sprinter.
A representative of Godolphin informed Williams of the change.
Williams controversially raced alone on the stand side on the 7-2 favourite at his last start in the Diamond Jubilee and was claimed late in the race by Underdraft who came from well back to win the race.
However, Williams was informed by Sheik Mohammed that he would be replaced by one of the leading owners retained jockeys.
Williams told the English media “I was very grateful for the association that I had with the horse throughout his career when I was given the opportunity to ride him.
“He had the hopes of a nation on his shoulders (in the Diamond Jubilee) and the coverage and support was unbelievable and I felt disappointed that we couldn’t pull it off but he was so gallant.”
