Workaholic jockey Danny Beasley has shrugged off any concern about Bonfire’s rapid ascent in distance for the Winter Cup, describing Gai Waterhouse’s stayer as the “class runner” in a weak edition of the listed race.

Bonfire will concede three-and-a-half kilograms to his nearest rival in the weights – Ipswich Cup winner Danchai – and steps from the 1600 metres of the rescheduled Hawkesbury Gold Cup to 2400 metres second-up on a rain-affected track.

But it has done little to perturb the confidence of Beasley as he seeks a second stakes success since returning permanently to Australia.
