Tatts’ Tiara 2015: Lumosty loses her lustre following luckless 10th

SHE was all the rage for the Stradbroke a fortnight ago but punters are steering well clear of Lumosty ($7.50) in Saturday’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on the Gold Coast.

Stradbroke winner Srikandi ($4.60), Avoid Lightning ($7), Catkins ($4.60), early favourite Najoom (second emergency) and Queenslander Real Surreal ($21) are the five horses punters are focussing on in the last Group 1 of the season.

But UBET has barely written a ticket for Lumosty following her luckless 10th in the Stradbroke as an equal favourite.

“There’s been no love for Lumosty since her Stradbroke flop,” UBET’s Nick Curry said.

“She’s $7.50 with us and bound to ease if punters continue to ignore her claims.”

UBET has recorded twice as many bets for mudlark Avoid Lightning than any other runner in the race but that could change if the heavy 8 surface improves Friday and Saturday as expected.

Srikandi has also been well supported with UBET to become the first horse since Dane Ripper in 1997 to complete the Stradbroke-Tattersall’s Tiara double.

“She’s been rock solid in betting at $4.60 despite her wide alley,” Curry said.

“She was set for the Stradbroke but by all reports her work since has been good and punters know she’ll be suited by the expected damp conditions.

“She’s two from two at the track and has been well backed to make it three from three.”

Meanwhile, Catkins and Real Surreal are the two punters are focusing on with the TAB.

“Catkins and Real Surreal have attracted just on 50 per cent of all investments so far and the latter’s quote has been halved from $41 to $21,” TAB’s Glenn Munsie said.

“Catkins last run was a second to Hazard ($15) in the Dane Ripper Stakes two weeks ago and she meets that horse 2kgs better for the defeat.

“That was her first run in eight weeks and she should derive benefit from it.”

Tiara favourite Najoom ($3.60) has been solid with UBET and Curry tipped the money to come for her if she makes the final field.
