Beleagured veterinarian Tom Brennan will be free to continue practising despite charges being levelled against him over racing’s cobalt scandal as the Victorian veterinary board decides whether to trigger its own probe.

Brennan is likely to come under the microscope of the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria for the alleged administration of cobalt to several racehorses. Cobalt is a potentially toxic substance when found at high levels in thoroughbreds.
