Racing Victoria is set to clinch a deal for free to air and digital coverage of horse racing with the Seven Network – as soon as the key race clubs in the state, which have been involved in the negotiations, formally sign off on the plan.

In a statement issued on Saturday afternoon the racing peak body said that its preferred outcome for the broadcasting impasse, which has dogged the sport in this state since the demise of TVN nearly three months ago, would be to partner with Seven, which is also the main broadcaster for the AFL.
