A WHIRLWIND week for Lumosty’s connections has ended on a high with the Stradbroke favourite gaining a start in the $2 million race following the scratching of Lord Of The Sky on Friday morning.

It comes after Lord Of The Sky failed to board a flight for Brisbane on Thursday night. Trainer Robbie Laing decided to float the horse to Queensland instead but the horse sustained a cut during travel and was scratched.

The news comes after it was feared Lumosty would not gain a start in the $2 million race.

It looked certain she would sneak into the field earlier this week but then doubtful runners El Roca and Lord Of The Sky both accepted for the race on Wednesday keeping Lumosty as the first emergency.

Stradbroke betting has been stifled all week due to the uncertainty over Lumosty’s spot in the field but no doubt money will pour in for the Victorian filly now.

Meanwhile, Racing Queensland stewards said Knoydart will be re-examined by RQ vets on Saturday morning after he was found to have a slightly short action on the near fore on Friday. All the Stradbroke runners were examined by RQ vets on Friday.
