Apprentice James Innes junior comes from a racing family but the reality of working in Australia’s biggest stable has struck home after he was sent to Dubbo for the next three months.

Godolphin’s brains trust decided Innes would benefit from some time with horseman Peter Nestor at the beginning of the month. However, the 20-year-old has still been able to find his way back to Rosehill on Saturday, where he will ride Royal Adventure, which is likely to start favourite. Far from being disappointed by the loan to Nestor, Innes sees the move out west as an opportunity to improve.
