JASON Collett said two first-up winners are primed to make it back-to-back victories on Saturday as the hoop goes in search of another treble at Rosehill.

Collett ventured to Rosehill on May 9 and booted home three winners — You’ll Never, Sense And Reason and Alberto Magic. The latter produced one of the runs of the day when successful again at Royal Randwick last week.

You’ll Never’s overall figures were outstanding in his return over the 1350m two weeks ago and, although the Chris Waller-trained galloper has let punters down before, Collett suspects the real You’ll Never will turn up in the Octagonal Handicap.

“He ran well second-up last campaign and the way he went to the line first-up says to me he’s back,” Collett said. “If he had have just flopped past them maybe I’d think differently. They went hard early and he was strong over the final 800m.”

Collett said the son of Commands can definitely step up to stakes races this winter providing he holds his form.

“When he’s right, he’s easily good enough for a Listed race and there’s a few of those events coming up over the next couple of months,” he said. “We’ve drawn nicely in barrier five and we should be able to settle around midfield pending on the speed.”

A week after Boban sprang an surprise in the Doomben 10,000, Collett said Sense And Reason, who races in the same colours, can produce the same scintillating sprint in the Ranvet Handicap (1200m).

“She flew first-up over the last few sections,” he said of Sense And Reason’s win. “Not sure what happened to her last prep but the campaign before that she was airborne and producing that big turn of foot that we know she has.”

Sense And Reason produced the fastest last 800m and 600m of the day when successful at Rosehill on her return. Her final 400m was the second fastest for the day and last 200m the fourth quickest.

“And she probably dropped off slightly late in the piece there because she hadn’t raced for a while,” he said. “With natural improvement she can finish off better and be even more dangerous and is another horse that could measure up in better races if she can go on with it here.”

The jockey also suggests punters give Intimate Moment another chance coming back to the 1800m of the Eremein Handicap.

“Three runs ago she was beaten less than three lengths at Group 1 level in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes,” he said. “She came through the worst part of the track at her next run and then maybe found the 2000m beyond her last start against the boys.

“I think she’s worth following up on particularly if the track keeps drying out.”
