From his large comfortable chair in a bayside nursing home, Jim Moloney was still deflecting much of the praise as the veteran trainer spoke of his upcoming induction into racing’s Hall of Fame.

At 90, the father of two trainers and the grandfather of a leading jockey, is one of the most revered trainers in Australia, especially following the deeds of arguably Australia’s greatest sprinter Vain.

“I can’t take much of the praise. It’s always been, since I started training, a team effort. But I’ve got to tell you, I’m terribly proud,” Moloney said.
