Trainer Vern Sigley confirmed that he will send Black Heart Bart Horseform on to Brisbane for the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 6 after his Goodwood effort at Morphettville last Saturday showed that he was up to Group One standard.

Black Heart Bart had won his previous four starts in WA but his wining sequence came to an end in the Goodwood when a slow start cost him dearly.

He was left in an awkward position on the rail near last to the turn before charging home late when he got to the outside to just miss a first three placing.

“That run proved he’s well and truly up to the best of them,” Sigley said.

“It was a big run. He pulled up good and we’re going to go on to Queensland.”

The Stradbroke will also be the next start for former Sydney sprinter Riva De Lago Horseformfollowing his first-up win for his new trainer Robert Heathcote at Caloundra on Saturday.

Riva De Lago, formerly trained by Chris Waller, was a surprise first-up winner of the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1300m), his first success since he won the G2 Theo Marks Stakes at Rosehill in 2013.

Heathcote said there would be no need to start the seven year old again before the Stradbroke.

“He loves racing fresh and I’m planning on going straight into the Stradbroke next without another run,” Heathcote said.

“I know this horse well because he beat my horse Solzhenitsyn in the Theo Marks in Sydney when he was with Waller.”

BTC Cup winner Hot Snitzel Horseform will be a late entry for the Stradbroke after connections decided to bypass Saturday’s $750,000 Doomben Ten Thousand (1350m).

Most riding engagements for the Ten Thousand have been finalised after Hugh Bowman was confirmed as the rider of Generalife Horseform with James McDonald aboard his Godolphin stablemate Knoydart Horseform.

Tim Bell will replace Bowman on the Joe Pride-trained Rock Sturdy Horseform while Glen Boss has taken the mount on Scissor Kick Horseform for Paul Messara.

Zac Purton will come from Hong Kong to ride Kiwi late entry Sacred Star Horseform, Blake Shinn retains the ride on Gerald Ryan’s BRC Sprint winner Charlie Boy Horseform and Kerrin McEvoy rides Bring Me The Maid Horseform for Peter Moody.

Tommy Berry sticks with Our Boy Malachi Horseform and Damian Browne rides Melbourne mare Srikandi Horseform.

Triple G1 winner Boban Horseform (Glyn Schofield) and new import Flamingo Star Horseform will represent the Chris Waller stable.
