Chad Schofield will fly back to Australia to ride in next Saturday’s $650,000 Doomben Cup after having his first ride in England overnight.

Schofield, who is riding trackwork at Newmarket for Ed Dunlop over the winter, picked up a ride for prominent local trainer Clive Brittain at the 1000 Guineas meeting.

The 21-year-old will honour a longstanding commitment to owner Lloyd Williams and maintain his association with Green Moon in the Group I weight-for-age event over 2000m in Brisbane.

Schofield rode the 2012 Melbourne Cup winner to sixth in the Hollindale Stakes on the Gold Coast on Anzac Day.

He will also partner Bring Me The Maid at Doomben in the Group I BTC Cup (1200m), which carries prizemoney of $500,000.

Schofield rode the filly when the closest of seconds in the Group II Arrowfield Stakes (1200m) at Randwick during The Championships last month.

It will be a family reunion for the Schofields in Brisbane. Chad’s father Glyn will ride the Chris Waller-trained Weary in the Doomben Cup.

Gai Waterhouse will back Pornichet up in the Doomben Cup following his dominant Toowoomba Cup win on Saturday.

Queenslander Tim Bell had the winning ride on Saturday but Blake Shinn, who rode runner-up Fenway in the Australasian Oaks in Adelaide for his stepfather Lee Hope and stepbrother Shannon , will takeover on Pornichet.

Waterhouse heaped praise on Shinn late last week, saying he’d never ridden better.

Bell will reunite with Kiwi sprinter Sacred Star in the BTC Cup.

Fresh from Group I success aboard Miracles Of Life in Adelaide on Saturday in the Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville, Hugh Bowman heads to Brisbane to ride much-travelled Kiwi four-year-old El Roca in the BTC Cup and Moriarty in the Doomben Cup.
