“This is a MAJOR coup for the Queensland thoroughbred industry,” Racing Queensland Chairman and prominent breeder, Kevin Dixon, enthused.”Bel Esprit is, of course, well known as the sire of our best ever racehorse in Black Caviar, but just as importantly, he also equalled the all-time Australian record for individual winners two seasons ago and has produced over 100 individual winners for the past five years.

“Apart from other Group One winners like Bel Sprinter and Bel Mer, his progeny have reaped over $45 million in stakes and his move to Queensland for the 2015 season is a huge vote of confidence for our QTIS program. If ever a stallion was ideally suited to Queensland, it’s Bel Esprit … after all, he’s been the most successful sire in Super VOBIS history. They run fast and they run early. And just to top it all off, he offers tremendous return on investment with his yearlings selling up to $260,000 in 2015.”

Eliza Park International’s Sales & Nominations Manager, Mark Lindsay, also pointed out the benefits of sending Bel Esprit north: “Breeding in Australia is no longer just a ‘state’ issue, with stallions moving around more and more. We (Eliza Park International) are fully committed to our operations in Victoria and Queensland, but really see our business as having national appeal. For us, Bel Esprit is an ideal fit for Queensland stallion ranks in 2015, given that on current earnings he is the highest ranked sire in the state by earnings and winners. What’s more he allows local broodmare owners to access the thriving QTIS scheme.

“But Victorian breeders won’t miss out either. Due to the flexible structure of Super VOBIS, Bel Esprit’s progeny from 2015 conceptions can still qualify under Breedback or through Category C. We see it is a win-win situation.”

Bel Esprit will stand at a fee of $18,700 in 2015 and for further information on Bel Esprit – or any of Eliza Park International’s stallions – please phone Mark Lindsay on 0416 334 338, Adam Henry on 0428 036 472 or EPI’s Queensland representative, Robyn Wise on 0419 174 632.
