Gai Waterhouse might have had to tip her hat twice to Peter Moody during the finale of the Sydney carnival at Randwick on Saturday but it did not stop her once again being the leading group 1 trainer for the autumn.

Waterhouse had four group 1 winners for the carnival, including a victory in what she considers the jewel in the crown, the Golden Slipper, with Vancouver. The $40 million colt was her headline act but mares Cosmic Endeavour, Sweet Idea and Amanpour also got the group 1 job done.
