LLOYD Kennewell is looking beyond Saturday’s $80,000 Projection Graphics Redelva Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville.

The leading trainer has three runners in the Listed three-year-old feature — all resuming from a spell — and he has made no secret of the fact exciting prospect Get The Nod is the star of his Morphettville stable.

But he said his other Redelva runners, Deiheros and Silent Whisper, should both acquit themselves well.

“Get The Nod is clearly the best horse I’ve got,’’ Kennewell said.

“He’s low-flying. He trialled well and I’m looking forward to seeing him on Saturday.

“He’s been in work for a fairly long time. He had a good break after the spring.’’

While there are a number of good options locally in the coming weeks as the UBET Adelaide Racing Carnival approaches, Kennewell already has his eyes on the warmer Queensland weather with his exciting team of horses.

And the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap at Doomben is a key target.

“His goal is obviously to get to Brisbane for the Stradbroke, eventually,’’ Kennewell said.

“We’ll give him every chance to do that.

“He’ll run in the Euclase (William Hill Stakes on May 9) over 1200m and, all being well, he’ll go straight to Brisbane the following day”

Kennewell said Get The Nod had continued to develop since his successful early spring campaign when he won the Group 2 Danehill Stakes at Flemington.

“He’s come on even more,’’ he added.

“Joe (Bowditch, rider) actually said he feels a lot more powerful and has a lot more strength about him.

“He’s not right at his top. It’s not his grand final but Saturday will tell us where he’s at.’’

Kennewell said last-start Gold Coast Magic Million Guineas winner Deihero’s would run well after impressing in the lead-up to his return.

“I think he’s in for his best prep to be honest,’’ he said.

“He’s going along really well, clearly better than he ever has.

“He trialled well, which isn’t like him, and his work has been really good.

“He’s on a similar path. He might go to Brisbane a little earlier. He’s looking towards the Stradbroke and he’ll run a cracking race.’’

Silent Whisper also resumes and Kennewell said the horse should run a forward race after drawing ideally in barrier six.

“He’s got form around some good horses,’’ he said.

“He’s trialled well. I expect him to run well but this will be a good test for him first-up.’’
