GOLDEN Slipper-winning jockey Tommy Berry is a rider in demand.

Berry’s nerveless effort to win the world’s richest juvenile race on Vancouver last Saturday impressed some of racing’s biggest trainers and the young jockey has been inundated with Group 1 rides in coming weeks.

Berry has picked up the ride on the John O’Shea-trained Earthquake in Friday night’s $400,000 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley, then he will return to Sydney on Saturday to partner Chris Waller’s Winx in the $400,000 Vinery Stud Stakes and Gai Waterhouse’s colt Hampton Court in the $1.5 million The BMW.

It doesn’t end there, either. Berry is not only the new rider of Hallowed Crown in the $3 million Doncaster Mile at Royal Randwick on April 4, he has also been booked to ride the brilliant Chautauqua in the $2.5 million TJ Smith Stakes on the same day.

Meanwhile, Racing NSW stewards reported that Doncaster hopeful Shooting To Win pulled up with back soreness after his unplaced run in the George Ryder Stakes.

Trainer Peter Snowden advised stewards he will “continue to monitor the progress” of Shooting To Win and was still hopeful the colt will be fit for the Doncaster next week.

Stewards released a list of high-profile gallopers who emerged with injury issues from the Rosehill meeting including Rising Romance with a bruised near fore heel although trainer Donna Logan is still pressing ahead with plans to run in The BMW on Saturday.

Va Pensiero suffered another tendon injury and has been spelled.
