TRAINER Danny O’Brien said Bullpit, his fourth horse to return a positive drug test to cobalt, was part of the same legal supplement regimen as the rest of his team of horses.

“They all got the same. We have co-operated fully with Racing Victoria, have given them full disclosure and I guess we will now wait for these inquiries to wind up and I can say I look forward to the day everything is presented,’’ O’Brien said.

O’Brien said the regimen, including the use of popular vitamin supplement Vam via pre and post-race drips, was discontinued in mid January, following an alert from the Australian Racing Board.

The ARB warned certain legal supplements could push a horse’s cobalt levels close to or beyond the legal threshold of 200 micrograms.

O’Brien said he does not believe he has any more irregularities that may become positive tests to cobalt, even though he used the supplement range he believes has pushed four horses over the limit right through November and December, after his first three tests and before the ARB warning.

Racing Victoria (RV) stewards informed O’Brien that the urine sample taken from Bullpit registered illegal cobalt levels.

The Herald Sun believes the level was just above the threshold.

The sample was tested in Perth and confirmed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

O’Brien-trained Bondeiger, Caravan Rolls On and De Little Engine returned elevated cobalt readings during last year’s spring carnival — weeks before the ARB warning.

Peter Moody, Mark Kavanagh and Lee and Shannon Hope are also under investigation for elevated cobalt readings.
