Breeding: Black Caviar and All Too Hard   Leave a comment

All Too Hard follows in his big sister’s footsteps

All Too Hard (Casino Prince) continued in his big sister’s footsteps when he retained his unbeaten status after comfortably winning the Pago Pago Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) last Saturday but has a way to go before beating Black Caviar’s (Bel Esprit) record of 19 victories, to date.

All Too Hard will now contest Saturday week’s Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) at Randwick next Saturday, which would give him a valuable Group One win ahead of his stud career.

All Too Hard is the third foal out of the unraced Helsinge (Desert Sun), herself a daughter of the QTC Cup (Gr 2, 1300m) winner Scandinavia (Snippets), making Helsinge a half sister to The Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m) winner and sire Magnus (Flying Spur) and the Group Two winner Wilander (Exceed And Excel).Scandinavia is a half sister to the Listed winners Frosty The Snowman (Christmas Tree), Midnight Sun (Western Symphony) and Russian Tea Room (Raise A Cup).

Helsinge’s first foal is the five-year-old Black Caviar, the winner of nine Group One races, and her second, the four-yearold Moshe (Bel Esprit), has won three races and finished fourth in a Listed race.

Helsinge has a yearling filly and a colt foal, both by Redoute’s Choice (Danehill). The filly is catalogued as Lot 200 in next week’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Helsinge was bred back to Bel Esprit (Royal Academy) last year.

All Too Hard is by the leading first season sire in Australia by earnings, Casino Prince (Flying Spur), who is also second in the leading first season sire in Australia by winners table with five so far, this table is currently being won by Husson (Hussonet), who has eight individual winners.

Casino Prince is a half brother to the dual Listed winners Tagus (Encosta DeLago) and Lord Of The Land (Timber Country) and their dam is the Listed placed Lady Capel (Last Tycoon). Lady Capel herself is a sister to the Group Three winner Palia and a half sister to the Group One winner Onemorenomore (Red Ransom), while their dam is a half sister to another Group One winner, Green Birdie (Catbird).

Desert Sun (Green Desert) is the broodmare sire of eight stakes winners, who are all by different sires. However, three are by sons of Danehill: Danroad, Rock Of Gibraltar and Magic Of Sydney, as is Redoute’s Choice, the sire of Helsinge’s yearling and foal.
