Frankel’s amazing Betfair betting stats
Punters’ worldwide have a love affair with undefeated superstar Frankel which is highlighted with Betfair’s activity surrounding the Sir Henry Cecil-trained galloper.
One Australian customer had $750,000 on Frankel at an average price of $1.14 in the Juddmonte International on Wednesday. The bet netted a profit of $106,000.
That bet sets a record as the largest racing wager placed by an Australian customer of Betfair, although it is eclipsed by one UK punter who whacked $1.18 million on the faultless galloper in the Juddmonte International.
Frankel went off in the Juddmonte International at a Betfair starting price of $1.16 with in-play backers finding odds as high as $1.31 in the run, which is the highest price bet about the galloper since his win in the Lockinge Stakes three starts ago.
Frankel accounted for more than 96 percent of the $3.9 million traded on the Juddmonte International.
Wednesday night’s big bets are the latest in string of significant wagers on the undefeated champion in 2012.
Betfair matched single back bets of $723,000 and $525,000 on Frankel in the Sussex Stakes. Bets of $1,004 million, $770,950 and $585,539 were matched in the Lockinge Stakes.
