sales talk
Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale
“We’ve been here since Tuesday and been solid throughout,
first day here we had 10 or 11 full parades and we’ve never had
that amount of interest here before. We’ve been very busy again
today, VOBIS Gold is certainly making a difference, we’ve got people
coming here and saying they only want to see VOBIS horses, and
they almost don’t care what it’s by, just as long as it’s qualified.
“We’ve got a good cross section, really good bunch of colts, our
Bel Esprit colts are very good and are already very popular, the fullbrother to Gabbidon [Lot 513 out of Eliza Park] has been extremely
popular, we’ve got a really nice Sebring colt [Lot 132], he’s just had a
huge pedigree update with Angel Of Mercy running third in the Group
Three at Flemington last Saturday, and we have a cracking Sharkbite
filly, a half-sister to Travino [Lot 652], a good stakes winner in New
Zealand, and the stallion is leaving some lovely types.”
Mark Lindsay, Eliza Park
“I think we’ve got every buyer of consequence here, which is
good, and we have got good influx from South Africa and Hong
Kong so that is all positive. We had people looking at horses here
on Wednesday, which is almost unheard of and today we’ve had all
the major players on grounds and we still have the internationals
to arrive. It’s now up to the buyers to be satisfied with what they
find here but we have done our job in getting them here, vendors
are happy at this stage with their inspections.
“There’s no doubt people are looking at horses earlier these
days, getting to farms before the sale. That never used to happen
but when you get catalogues the size they are now then it’s
understandable, especially for those buyers that look at every
single horse.
“VOBIS Gold is already making things happen which is great.
I think if we can get figures on a par with last year we have to
look on that as a good result. Fortunately things are going well
in Victoria, or racing keeps going ahead and our prize money is
good.
